Literature Text

When the two companions woke up the next morning, neither one was feeling as emotional as they had the day before. Walking downstairs, Spitfire turned on the stove to fry some eggs, and walked over to the front door where a freshly baked apple pie was waiting as usual. She took the pie over to the table and laid it in front of an eager Soarin', who wasted no time to plunge his face into the warm contents of the tin. Seeing him happy again lifted Spitfire's spirits, and she walked over to the stove where the eggs were starting to solidify. As she transformed the quivering heap of egg into an omelet, Soarin' finished off his pie, letting out a contented moan he walked into the kitchen to see what Spitfire was doing.
Spitfire had just been finishing off making her breakfast, and was pleased to see a happy Soarin' walk into the room. She had been a bit until then about him still being down about the incident in the park the day before, but it seemed to have no affect on him today. She hoped that it would stay that way, but even though Soarin' wore a smile plastered on his face, she knew that inside he was probably still fragile, and that the slightest slip could break him once more if she was not careful. But no matter how careful she was, there was no way to account for what the others would say. That's when Velvet walked into the room*.
"Hey Spitfire, watchya making?" He asked
"Bacon, eggs and toast." She replied.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you…" Velvet said, sounding a bit nervous.
"Oh no," Spitfire thought "Not the girl thing, not the girl thing!"
"Is Soarin' vegetarian?" He finally asked.
"Say what?" she replied, stunned.
"Well, I asked if he was vegetarian." He repeated.
"Oh, no, he's not. I know a lot of people think it's weird, but yeah, he eats meat*(2)." She replied, relieved.
" 'S not weird, just wanted to know. Oh and what happened with you two in the park yesterday?" he questioned.
The answer he got was a face palm from Spitfire, and Soarin' collapsing to the ground and burying his head in the ground.
"How 'bout you leave and I tell you later." Spitfire said, venom practically dripping from her voice.
"Well shit, guess that's my cue to hightail it out of here." Velvet said, rushing out the door.
Spitfire sighed, and walked over to Soarin', who was still quivering on the floor. She tried consoling him once more, but then resorted to her tactic from last night, and she enveloped him in a hug, sitting there until he eventually stopped shacking, and went limp in her arms. Spitfire's breakfast had long since smoking, and she quickly reached over to turn off the stove. She picked up Soarin' and carried him over to the couch, where the two sat for another little while. Soarin' was nearly broken, and Spitfire knew it. It was only a matter of days until the next Wonderbolts show, and in his current condition, chances are he wouldn't be able to perform. If he couldn't perform, Spitfire wouldn't here the end of her manager's furious speech to her.
They were supposed to have practice today, but she knew taking Soarin' would be irrelevant, so she wrapped him up in the Wonderbolts blanket he always used, and then went to get changed. By the time that she had come back downstairs in her flight suit, Soarin was already asleep in a little ball on the couch, so Spitfire left him to his dreams and walked out the door to go to the practice field.
When Spitfire got to the practice field her arrival was only met with awkward stares from the other fliers, and she soon realized that Velvet had told them what happened when he came into her kitchen. Knowing she had some explaining to do, she sat down on the cloud field and began to rattle off the story from the previous day, up until leaving her house to come to practice.
"Man…" Fleetfoot said "So he's really shaken up?"
"Yep, no chance of getting him to fly again at this rate." Spitfire replied.
Not having one of their fliers was a near worst nightmare for the team, as backup for was hard to come by properly. Normally, two partners have to stay together, you can't just take away the Pegasus and hope that it will fly at its full potential. This would mean that Spitfire would have to sit the show out as well. Being the Captain of the team, this would be extremely bad news.
"Guess we're just gonna have to see where this one goes, and hope it doesn't turn into a massive train wreck." Velvet concluded.
*(1) the character Velvet belongs to me, he came around when a mistakenly pictured Soarin for having a velvet/purple coloured man and tail, plus a pure white body. Link to pony version (He's human in the story) here generalzoi.deviantart.com/art/…

*(2) okay I know that they're meant to be vegetarian but if they were living with humans I personally think that would change.
